Abstract Spaces

This project was a spatial exercise that was done in several phases. We were first asked to design a closed and open cube made out of white paper. Then, we designed four additional cubes that created a spatial transition from the open to the closed cube. Based on a graphic generated from these cubes, we designed a space that had at least one small, medium and large room. Since my initial cube series was defined by planes, I layered planes to create a variety of spatial experiences. I used proportions based on my original cube to unite the different spaces. In a larger scale section model, I experimented with the thickness of the material. I introduced thickness in my final design to further vary each of the spaces by creating a range of opacity.
